Star Duckweed

Lemna trisulcaThese small floating perennial plants with abruptly reduced green stalks are widespread in still and sluggish waters. The duckweed usually covers the surface of a still-water pond, branching massively. Its leafless small stalks resemble lance-shaped leaves, with one root issuing from every such stalk. The stalks are semi-transparent of 0.5-1 cm in length. Very rarely, in May-June flowers occur.
